Cookie Crush Match 3 Review: Take Three More
Alex has green eyes, red hair and the sweetest mission to complete. Help Alex along with her journey through Cookie Land, and make combinations of cookies to collect the required score. Match three of them to make a taste explosion, discover new desserts and sweets, and make your way through the land of sweets!
Match-3 games seem never to get dated. The idea of moving sweets around and combining them is so inexhaustible that if you’re tired of Candy Crush or its numerous likes, you can download Cookie Crush Match 3 to re-experience that sweet puzzling feel. Is it worth your time? At least, it’s good at killing it, and that’s the essence.
Being simple in its core, a Match 3 game can get very spectacular due to rich drawing and animation effects. Alas, it’s not the case with Cookie Crush. It demonstrates the cookies as the pieces you need to move to complete the actions, but they don’t look tasty at all. Anyway, still, they are distinguishable and quite good for playing. Graphical simplicity also helps to keep the app simple and not to make the chipset suffocate.
The funniest thing is the voicing. It sounds like the original voice actor was fooling while recording Candy Crush soundtrack, and someone made a bootleg record. It sounds similar, but confusing. As for music, the game lacks the luxurious baroque soundtrack that turned the Saga into a real fairytale.
As you launch the game, you get it started without intros and interludes telling you what this cookie story is all about. The first level launches immediately, and what you see looks like the most popular Match-3 game (the one mentioned in, pardonne moi, The Emoji Movie), with minimal settings.
As you proceed, you will see that the mechanics is identical. You swipe the nearest cookies to create combine three of the same type, and then they disappear, earning you some points.
Not only does it take the same gestures for creating combos. Even the combos you create operate the same way. The line of four identical cookies swipes the whole row or column, depending on whether it took a vertical or a horizontal swipe to generate it.
And there are ads. Video ads pop up between levels. Ad banners are always at the bottom of the screen. The other game acted more gently and offered you some bonuses if you voluntarily watch an ad.
Are there any advantages, if we compare it to what you think about? Yes, there are. First of all, Cookie Crush requires dramatically less space, so, on old phones and tablets with limited storage, it would fit better. Second, for the same reason it requires less performance, so, while your old device may refuse to run a rich-animated, hi-resolution game with candies, this one will cause no trouble.
The best thing about the game is its controls. Seriously. The game is controlled just perfectly. It responds to your swipes immediately, and all the gestures are obvious. As a good game should, it doesn’t have to explain anything. This approach reveals the secondary nature of the game, because its developers suppose you have played something similar at least once. But it’s 2018, so go and find someone over 13 who has never played a Match-3.

As you proceed, you unlock new missions and new bonuses, so the game gets more fun. There’s no sense at all to start it all over. But the progress is saved in your account, so you probably won’t have to restart it. By the way, you can link this game to your Facebook account to access it from any device and save your progress in the cloud.
And one more thing: there are no secrets this game can reveal. It’s just a time killer mimicking another time killer. So losing your progress (if it ever happens) won’t be fatal.
In fact, a Cookie Crash Match 3 review could have been something like “A paler shade of you-know-what”. In fact, it is, but it suddenly has some advantages over the original. If you own a 2015 or later smartphone or tablet, you won’t see anything worthy about it. But for those on older or budget models, this one may be the casual game number one, because of its low requirements.
The undisputable pro of this Candy Crush clone is that you can download Cookie Crush Match 3 even to an old device with little memory left for apps.
Pros : The mechanics you certainly know;
Moderate system requirements;
It’s got cookies!
Cons : The game looks secondary in every aspect.
