Candy Crush Soda Saga Review: Up We Go Now
Candy Crush Soda Saga is a logical and physical puzzle by Kings, the developer of the famous Candy Crush Saga. This variation brings new physics and new missions into the familiar gameplay. If you like puzzles, hurry to download Candy Crush Soda Saga to your mobiles or play it on Facebook.
Candy Crush Soda Saga Gameplay 5/5
If you’re not familiar with Candy Crush mechanics, we’ll remind it a bit in this Candy Crush Soda Saga review. It’s a Match-3 game, requiring you to swipe candies with the next one to create combinations of three or more candies of the same type. Then the combo pops, and other candies fall from above if not blocked.
In Soda version, the developers offer alternative the mechanics. Now part of the field is filled with soda water, and while in the upper part new candies fall from above, in the lower part they rise from below like bubbles in soda water. As you progress, the water rises.
The rest is about the same. Each level offers a mission you need to complete (say, pop a certain number of bottle-like candies). The missions may differ, but they are all based on the game’s conventional physics.
Candy Crush Soda Saga Graphics 5/5
This series by King is really king when it comes to visuals. A simple puzzle is wrapped into brilliant animation and drawing style. Though Soda version looks modern and has no baroque chic of the original, it still looks great.
Soda aesthetics means reviewing all the style, and that enchanting flavor of an old European fairytale is gone, replaced by something made in Hollywood. But it’s neither good nor bad, it’s just different.
Candy Crush Soda Saga Sounds 5/5
It’s all conceptual, and now even the music sounds less classical and more cinematic. As for the sounds, they indicate events just as efficiently as in the original. The voicing is similar to that famous “Candy Crush!”, but the phrases are different this time.
When it comes to controls, we can only admit that there’s nothing to confuse and nowhere to get lost. First levels contain brief tutorials on how it works.
Replay Value 5/5
Games like Candy Crush Soda Saga get more and more complicated as you progress, and if you suddenly have to restart it, the first levels seem dull. Luckily, if you authorize with Facebook, you won’t have to restart. You have 1000+ levels with variable missions, new power-ups, and bonuses. But each of them can be replayed if you want to improve your results.
It’s a great successor to the classical game, so Candy Crush Soda Saga is the perfect option for those who want something like that great game, but a bit different. The balance of tradition and innovation is kept perfect, so that’s a master class on how to make a right kind of sequel.
If you like the original game, then yes, you should download Candy Crush Soda Saga. But the physical innovations may get you confused.
Pros : Good variation of traditional Match-3;
Perfect visuals and sound;
Combination of familiar and new for the fans of the original;
Inexhaustible new levels to play.
Cons : New physics may confuse you;
The game is as donation and adsupported as the original.
Replay Value 5.0
